The Faculty of Engineering (Previously Faculty of Science and Technology) is established in the year 2020 to promote and focus on the growing need to produce efficient and effective engineering graduates required to meet the domestic and international market.
As you stand at this important crossroads, considering the path that will define your future, I want to speak to you not just as a Dean, but as a fellow engineer, a teacher, and a parent who understands the weight of this decision. Choosing to pursue engineering is more than just selecting a career; it is a commitment to becoming a problem-solver, an innovator, and a key architect of our nation’s progress. Here in Nepal, a land of breathtaking landscapes and immense potential, the call for skilled and compassionate engineers has never been louder. We are a nation on the rise, with dreams as high as our mountains. To turn these dreams into reality, we need infrastructure that connects our communities, technology that empowers our people, and sustainable solutions that honor our precious environment. This is the noble work that awaits you. At Purbanchal University, our mission is to prepare you to lead it. The faculty is committed to foster engineering talents for the industry and the community. Our curriculum is specially designed to cover infrastructural development areas such as Civil, Geomatics, and Architecture and emerging areas such as Biomedical, Electronics and communication, Electrical, and Computer engineering. Not only that, but we have also started Master Level education on various field. In near future, we are planning to enroll in Ph.D. in various fields.
Engineering plays a pivotal role in contributing to positive societal impact and facilitating economic development in the rapidly changing world. Here in Nepal, driving innovation and technology development is to be a highly prioritized endeavor of the Government. Together with the opportunities, it is the best of times for engineering to play a more central role. It is our responsibility to provide solutions to global challenges and nurture leaders to embrace the advantages of technological advancement for the benefit of humankind and the planet.
My own life has been shaped by the transformative power of education. My journey began at the IoE Pulchowk Campus, the heart of engineering education in Nepal. It then took me to the advanced technological landscapes of NTNU in Norway, where I did my graduate study in Hydropower Development, and then the rigorous academic environment of IIT Bombay in India, where I did my PhD in Water Resources Engineering. Through these experiences, and over 28 years of teaching and research experiences at IoE, I have learned a fundamental truth: excellence is not born from privilege, but forged through perseverance, curiosity, and an unwavering dedication to one’s craft. I have seen firsthand that a world-class education is not just about gaining knowledge, but about building character. It is about learning how to think critically, how to collaborate effectively, and how to face complex challenges with courage and integrity. This philosophy is the bedrock of our vision for the Faculty of Engineering. We are building an institution where merit is the only currency that matters, where hard work is celebrated, and where every student is empowered to transcend their circumstances and achieve their fullest potential. My past experiences, including leading departments and research centers, have reinforced my belief that true leadership is about creating opportunities for others to succeed. And that is my promise to you, who join PUFoE with stanchly.
